Technical Services- Specialist Cold-room Design
Climadesign provided the design expertise to support Every Cooling Solution in delivering all specialist coldstore requirements at the new Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus (AberInnovation). The team at Climadesign supported for a 2 year period producing all detailed engineering, technical design requirements, Revit/ CAD & 3D modelling. In total 12 specialist temperature controlled spaces were designed including the controlled environment for the prestige Seed Biobank.
To suit all requirements the team had to provide individual specification sheets for each room. Key specification requirements included run and standby operation with full automated change over, close temperature control at ± 1°Cat the control sensor, varying space temperatures from -23degC to +40degC and humidity control for seed storage rooms at 20%RH, ± 3%RH at the control sensor.
For the contractor Climadesign carried out detailed design work associated with the specialist package that included the coldroom fabric, refrigeration, electrical, humidity, ventilation, control and leak detection systems.
